This two (2) day course is a mandatory requirement to work on or near roads within WA. The course provides participants the theory and practical skills required to implement a traffic management plan, ensuring traffic flow is maintained and the safety risk to all road users and workers is minimised. This course does not include how to control traffic using a Stop/Slow bat, if this is a requirement please refer to BWTM/TC course. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires, group activities and implementing traffic signs using real live road environments. Assessment methods include written and practical assessments, using a range of locations and scenarios. This course is ideal for a wide variety of job roles such as General Labourers, Landscapers, Surveyors, Plant Operators, Site Supervisors and Project Managers.

The Basic Worksite Traffic Management & Traffic Controller (BWTM & TC) is a three and a half (3.5) day course that is a mandatory requirement for individuals undertaking traffic management and control duties on roads within Western Australia. This course provides participants with the theory and practical skills to safely implement traffic management plans control traffic for works on roads, and operate portable traffic control devices (PTCDs). The training ensures that traffic flow is effectively maintained while minimising safety risks to both road users and workers. Training is delivered face-to-face and incorporates classroom learning, group discussions, case studies, simulated exercises, and practical application in both simulated and live traffic environments. Assessment is conducted through knowledge questionnaires, practical demonstrations, and direct observation across a variety of scenarios. This course is ideal for a wide variety of job roles such as Traffic Controllers, General Labourers, Landscaper, Plant Operators, Site Supervisors and Project Managers.

This four (4) day course provides participants with the theory and practical skills required to monitor the effectiveness of traffic guidance schemes including adding and/or removing signs and devices within the scope and objectives of the Traffic Management Plan. This course covers conducting risk assessment, anaylsing project and road/traffic data, amending traffic guidance schemes, working with a range of stakeholders and quality review processes. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires, group activities, auditing worksites using a range of locations and scenarios. Assessments include theory questionnaires and practical assessments. This course and level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to Traffic Controllers, Team Crew Leaders, Site Supervisors or Project Managers.

This accredited course provides participants with the theory and practical skills required to prepare detailed Traffic Management Plans (TMPs). This course covers conducting risk assessment, analysing project and road/traffic data, developing traffic guidance schemes, working with a range of stakeholders, quality review processes and obtaining required authorisations. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires, group activities, auditing worksites using a range of locations and scenarios. Assessments include theory questionnaires, practical assessments and assignments. This course and level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to Traffic Planners, Project Managers, Engineers and Approving Officers.

This two (2) day course provides students with the theory and practical skills required to safely and efficiently operate a truck-mounted attenuator (TMA). Truck-mounted attenuator operators play an important role in operating TMAs in ensuring all other members of the work crews are adequately protected from out of control errant vehicles in or around a work zone, a trafficable lane, or road verge area. TMAs are designed to safely absorb the kinetic energy of an errant vehicle should it impact it. Drivers must have the knowledge and understanding for work crew safety including the correct location, providing suitable shunt-forward distances, adequate warning systems for work crew and travelling public if possible.

This one and a half (1.5) day reaccreditation course provides participants with updated information on the latest changes and requirements to safely implement a traffic management plan, control traffic with a stop/slow bat, and operate portable traffic control devices (PTCDs). The course refreshes and extends participants’ knowledge and practical skills to manage traffic safely and effectively, ensuring traffic flow is maintained and the safety risks to all road users and workers are minimised. Training is delivered face-to-face and incorporates classroom learning, group discussions, case studies, simulated exercises, and practical application in both simulated and live traffic environments. Assessment is conducted through knowledge questionnaires, practical demonstrations, and direct observation across a variety of scenarios.

The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires and group activities. Assessments include theory questionnaires and practical assessments.

The Event Traffic Controller (ETC) course is a Main Roads WA developed course targeted to those who organise and work at events on and near roads. This non-accredited course is a minimum requirement for all persons working at events on roads, in a low-complex traffic environment and where the posted speed does not exceed 60kp/h. This short course provides participants with the necessary skills to implement event warning signs and maintain the safety of event goers and road users. The course is delivered face to face and includes theory assessments and simulated practical training and assessments. This level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to event organisers/managers, event community groups or event volunteers. Please note if you are required to implement signs and devices at an event location that has higher speeds such as 80kp/h zone, you will be required to undertake BWTM or BWTM/TC training.

This one (1) day reaccreditation course provides participants with updated information on the latest changes and requirements to safely and efficiently operate a truck-mounted attenuator (TMA). This one (1) day reaccreditation course is for participants who holds current BWTM accreditation however, do not directly undertake temporary traffic management roles at worksites, such as parking inspectors, surveillance officers, grader operators and verge mowers etc. But they have previously gained BWTM accreditation and are finding it difficult to provide evidence of active industry engagement when applying for a BWTM Re-accreditation. In these cases, rather than re-sitting the full BWTM course, they may sit a reaccreditation course and gain a more restrictive BWTM Non-Practitioner accreditation without the need to provide evidence of industry experience. The course provides participants with updated information on the latest changes and requirements to safely implement traffic management and control traffic for works on roads within the parameters of a restricted BWTM Non-Practitioner accreditation. The course is delivered face to face and includes mandatory practical training and assessments.

This one (1) day course provides participants with the theory and practical skills required to prepare detailed Traffic Management Plans including those in accordance with and up to the planning level specified in clause 2.2.1(c) of AS1742 Part 3 – 2009. The course is delivered face to face. This level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to Traffic Planners, Project Managers or Approving Officers.

This seven (7) hour, non-accredited course is a minimum requirement for all persons working at events on roads with a posted speed limit of 60kph or less. This short course provides participants with the necessary skills to implement event warning signs and maintain the safety of event goers and road users. The course is delivered face to face and includes simulated practical training and assessments. This level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to event organisers/managers, event community groups or event volunteers.

This one and a half (1.5) day bridging course provides participants with the opportunity to transfer their traffic management accreditations from various Australian states for full recognition in Western Australia. This course provides participants with updated information on the latest changes and requirements to safely implement a traffic management plan, control traffic with a stop/slow bat, and operate Portable Traffic Control Devices (PTCDs). The course refreshes and extends participants’ knowledge and practical skills to manage traffic safely and effectively, ensuring traffic flow is maintained and the safety risks to all road users and workers are minimised. Training is delivered face-to-face and incorporates classroom learning, group discussions, case studies, simulated exercises, and practical application in both simulated and live traffic environments. Assessment is conducted through knowledge questionnaires, practical demonstrations, and direct observation across a variety of scenarios.

This one (1) day reaccreditation course provides participants with the latest updates and requirements for reviewing Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) prepared by individuals holding an Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) accreditation. Participants will refresh the skills and knowledge required to monitor the implementation, and or conduct surveillance, of trafic management schemes. The course is delivered face-to-face and includes a combination of classroom-based learning, group activities, and theory-based exercises. Assessment methods include both practical tasks and theory questionnaires.

This four (4) day course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to review Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) prepared by individuals holding an Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) accreditation. Participants will also develop the skills needed to monitor the implementation of, or conduct surveillance on, traffic management schemes. It includes self-paced online learning modules to be completed prior to attendance, followed by face-to-face training comprising of classroom-based learning, group activities, and worksite auditing. Assessment methods include written theory questionnaires and practical evaluations.
