The Event Traffic Controller (ETC) course is a Main Roads WA developed course targeted to those who organise and work at events on and near roads. This non-accredited course is a minimum requirement for all persons working at events on roads, in a low-complex traffic environment and where the posted speed does not exceed 60kp/h. The course is delivered face to face and includes theory assessments and simulated practical training and assessments. This level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to event organisers/managers, event community groups or event volunteers. Please note if you are required to implement signs and devices at an event location that has higher speeds such as 80kp/h zone, you will be required to undertake BWTM or BWTM/TC training.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

No, this level of accreditation is only suited for events on or near roads (not roadworks).  If you are wishing to gain employment working in the road construction or maintenance field, you will be required to consider the Main Roads WA BWTM or BWTM/TC accreditation.

This accreditation is valid for up to three (3) years and after which you are required to renew your accreditation again.  Due to being a short duration course, there is no dedicated reaccreditation course and therefore you undertake the training again.  During training, our Trainer will include and cover details about the changes that have occurred over the last 3 year period from when you’ve last undertaken your training.

Unfortunately, you will be unable to complete this training, as Main Roads WA require participants to hold a current driver’s licence in order to be issued an Event Traffic Controller (ETC) accreditation.
