This four (4) day course provides participants with the theory and practical skills required to monitor the effectiveness of traffic guidance schemes including adding and/or removing signs and devices within the scope and objectives of the Traffic Management Plan. This course covers conducting risk assessment, anaylsing project and road/traffic data, amending traffic guidance schemes, working with a range of stakeholders and quality review processes. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires, group activities, auditing worksites using a range of locations and scenarios. Assessments include theory questionnaires and practical assessments. This course and level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to Traffic Controllers, Team Crew Leaders, Site Supervisors or Project Managers.

Learning Outcomes

Amend a TMP in accordance with the objectives, statutory and regulatory standards

Collect and analyse site information, data and conduct risk assessment, that is required within a TMP

Select and modify a TMP and TGS based on risk assessment to ensure a safe and effective worksite operation

Determine signs and devices including calculating the spacing between signs, measure width of trafficable surface, edge clearances to barriers, cones and clearance to work personnel

Identify required authorisations including variation to standards

Determine speed environment, type and class of vehicles, sight lines, environmental conditions and surface type

Identify key stakeholders and prepare advance notification requirements

Competencies

Upon successful completion,  all participants will be issued by AusQ Training RTO 52361 with the following nationally recognised Statement of Attainment:

AusQ Training is a Main Roads WA approved training provider, therefore, upon successful completion and meeting all the required Main Roads WA pre requisites, participants will also receive a digital Main Roads WA Worksite Traffic Management (WTM) accreditation (valid for 3 years).

Pre Entry Requirements

Participants are required to:

Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Provide photographic identification upon arrival at training course (eg driver’s licence, passport etc)

Have an adequate level of English literacy, numeracy and reading skills as training will involve reading work instructions, interpreting/modifying traffic guidance schemes, writing safety documentation, undertaking basic calculations, and compliance audit reports

In order to meet Main Roads WA accreditation requirements, participants MUST:

Hold a current Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation*

Hold (or have held) an Australian Driver’s Licence

Details of a minimum of three (3) worksites with a supervisor’s contact details that can be verified. Details required to provide will include date of work, site location and suburb, description of works, contractor, and supervisor name and contact details

Have evidence of being issued with a valid Worksafe WA Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (blue card) or Construction Induction Training Card (White Card)

Have documentary evidence of at least 1 year practical experience in traffic management OR; have documentary evidence of at least 2 year’s practical experience in road construction/maintenance

A completed and signed SWMS used on a worksite by the applicant

Minimum one (1) signed daily diary of a worksite you have implemented

Complete a Pre-enrolment form to demonstrate meeting the above listed requirements

*Exemption from holding a current BWTM accreditation may be offered for employees working in Main Roads, Local Governments or other approving bodies with at least 3 years’ experience in traffic management, road safety, road construction/maintenance or road design that will be endorsing TMP’s. Additionally, they must have previously held a BWTM accreditation.

The above listed requirements and evidence must be supplied with your enrolment. This is required to allow issuing of a Main Roads WA accreditation at the successful completion of the course.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the Construction Training Fund in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.

Yes, this is a course pre-entry requirement. Some of the required resources are a licensed resource therefore we are unable to supply copies due to copyright laws. If you require assistance with printing any of the free downloadable resources, our team can assist, however additional costs will be applicable to cover printing and collating costs. We require at least ten (10) working days’ notice to prepare these resources.
