Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM)

This accredited course provides participants with the theory and practical skills required to prepare detailed Traffic Management Plans (TMPs). This course covers conducting risk assessment, analysing project and road/traffic data, developing traffic guidance schemes, working with a range of stakeholders, quality review processes and obtaining required authorisations. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires, group activities, auditing worksites using a range of locations and scenarios. Assessments include theory questionnaires, practical assessments and assignments. This course and level of Main Roads WA accreditation is suited to Traffic Planners, Project Managers, Engineers and Approving Officers.

Learning Outcomes

Design a TMP in accordance with the project brief, statutory and regulatory standards

Collect and analyse site information, data and conduct risk assessment, in order to prepare a TMP

Select and modify a TMP and TGS based on risk assessment to ensure a safe and effective worksite operation

Determine signs and devices including calculating the spacing between signs, measure width of trafficable surface, edge clearances to barriers, cones and clearance to work personnel

Identify and obtain authorisations required including variation to standards

Determine speed environment, type and class of vehicles, sight lines, environmental conditions and surface type

Identify key stakeholders and prepare advance notification requirements

Competencies

Upon successful completion, all participants will be issued by AusQ Training RTO 52361 with the following nationally recognised Statement of Attainments:

AusQ Training is a Main Roads WA approved training provider therefore upon successful completion and meeting all the required Main Roads WA pre requisites participants will also receive a Main Roads WA Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) accreditation (valid for 3 years).

Course Duration

4 days 7:30 am – 4:00 pm please arrive 15 minutes prior course times

Prior to the classroom training, there is a requirement to complete pre-reading and learning prior to commencing. The pre-reading will be provided via the learning management system and will take approximately 3-4 hours.

At the completion of classroom training, there is a requirement to complete additional two assignments. These assignments will involve design TMPs. The two assignments are estimated to take between four to five days (36-48 hours) to prepare and submit.

Course total duration available to complete the course is up to four (4) months. This is inclusive of all classroom hours, assessment completion, and any further follow-up or resubmissions as required.

Pre Entry Requirements

Participants are required to:

Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Provide photographic identification upon arrival at training course (eg driver’s licence, passport etc)

Have an adequate level of English literacy, numeracy and reading skills as training will involve reading work instructions, interpreting traffic guidance schemes, designing Traffic Management Plans, writing safety documentation, undertaking calculations and compliance audit reports

Have an adequate level of computer processing, internet and email skills as training will involve designing and developing Traffic Management Plans, emailing road authorities and communicating with all relevant stakeholders

Access to a computer for word processing eg prepare a word document, report document etc. Ability to convert word document into PDF version

Access to internet access for internet research, emailing, using a learning management system LMS, communicating with Trainer, downloading any other research or resources etc

Access to a computer with speakers (for watching recorded tutorial videos) and printer for printing document copies or TGS preparation

In order to meet Main Roads WA accreditation requirements, participants MUST:

Hold (or have held) an Australian Driver’s Licence

Have evidence of being issued with a valid Worksafe WA Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (blue card) or Construction Induction Training Card (White Card)

Hold or have held Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation

Have documentary evidence of at least 1 year practical experience in traffic management OR; have documentary evidence of at least 2 year’s practical experience in road construction/maintenance. Documentary evidence must include the following as a minimum either: – a letter or Third Party Report from their employer detailing the type of work performed, OR Details of a minimum of three (3) worksites with a supervisor’s contact details that can be verified. Details required to provide will include date of work, site location and suburb, description of works, contractor, and supervisor name and contact details

The above listed requirements and evidence must be supplied with your enrolment. This is required to allow issuing of a Main Roads WA accreditation at the successful completion of the course.

Metropolitan Rate $1896 per person

Regional Rate $1896 per person No GST for Nationally Accredited Training.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the Construction Training Fund in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers. We are unable to offer bulk billing options on this course type, however, for eligible workers subsidies can be applied for directly to Construction Training Fund upon completion of training.

Yes, this is a course pre-entry requirement. Some of the required resources are a licensed resource therefore we are unable to supply copies due to copyright laws. If you require assistance with printing any of the free downloadable resources, our team can assist, however additional costs will be applicable to cover printing and collating costs. We require at least ten (10) working days’ notice to prepare these resources.

Yes, after completing classroom training there are further assessments to be completed.  Students are provided ten (10) working days from the completion of classroom training to prepare and submit their first assessment.

All assessment due dates and instructions are provided at your training course, discussed with your Trainer & Assessor and easily accessible in your dedicated student log in via our learning management system.

Students are required to complete two (2) assessments.  Assessments involve designing Traffic Management Plans (TMP).

Extensions can be sought for unforeseen, extenuating or compassionate grounds and circumstances. Extensions must be received in writing and approved before a student can apply additional timeframe for the completion of assessments.  Students may be provided up to two (2) extensions with their enrolment throughout the course duration.

Within our learning management system, there is an Assessment Extension Request Form which will need to be completed prior to your due date.
