This one (1) day reaccreditation course provides participants with updated information on the latest changes and requirements on monitoring the effectiveness of traffic guidance schemes including adding and/or removing signs and devices within the scope and objectives of the Traffic Management Plan. This course covers conducting risk assessment, amending traffic guidance schemes and undertaking quality review processes. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires and group activities. Assessments include theory questionnaires and practical assessments.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge of the latest regulatory and industry changes and requirements over the last 3 year period

Knowledge about changes to legislative resources such as Main Roads WA Code of Practice for Works on Road & Events, Austroads Guides etc

Verification of skills to amend a TMP in accordance with the objectives, statutory and regulatory standards

Verification of skills to select and modify a TMP and TGS based on risk assessment to ensure a safe and effective worksite operation

Verification of skills to determine signs and device selection including calculating the spacing between signs, cones and clearance to work personnel

Competencies

This is a non accredited course, therefore, no nationally recognised Statement of Attainments are included or issued.

AusQ Training is a Main Roads WA approved training provider, therefore, upon successful completion and meeting all the required Main Roads WA pre requisites, participants will also receive a digital Main Roads WA Worksite Traffic Management (WTM) accreditation (valid for 3 years). All certification records are issued in digital format and will be sent through via email.

Course Duration

1 day 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (please arrive 15 minutes prior course times)

Pre Entry Requirements

Participants are required to:

Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Provide photographic identification upon arrival at training course (eg driver’s licence, passport etc)

Have an adequate level of English literacy, numeracy and reading skills as training will involve reading work instructions, interpreting/modifying traffic guidance schemes, writing safety documentation, undertaking basic calculations, and compliance audit reports

Hold a Statement of Attainment in RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process or equivalent

In order to meet Main Roads WA accreditation requirements, participants must:

Hold (or have held) an Australian Driver’s Licence

Have evidence of being issued with a valid Worksafe WA Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (blue card) or Construction Induction Training Card (White Card)

Hold a current Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation

Hold a current Main Roads WA Worksite Traffic Management (WTM) accreditation (or be within the 3 month grace period of expiry)

Details of a minimum of three (3) worksites with a supervisor’s contact details that can be verified. Details required to provide will include date of work, site location and suburb, description of works, contractor, and supervisor name and contact details

A completed and signed SWMS used on a worksite by the applicant

Provide one (1) onsite Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS) amendment that the applicant (WTM) has made from an authorised TMP that was implemented. This will include copies of the:

  • Authorised TMP front cover
  • Amended Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS), showing the applicable changes/corrections. Amendments must be authorised by printing your name, accreditation number, date, time, and signature
  • A detailed risk assessment identifying the potential hazards and justifying the changes and controls. If applicable, consider the risks associated with making the changes and ongoing risks after the changes are made.
  • Completed Daily Diary summarising your actions and reasons why they are to be undertaken.  Consider if there is a need to communicate these changes back to the relevant stakeholders including the original Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) / Traffic Management Designer (TMD) accredited person.

NOTE: All evidence shall have been within the last 12 months of seeking their Main Roads WA Traffic Management re-accreditation. Please note the above evidence may be verified by the RTO.

The above-listed requirements and evidence must be supplied with your enrolment no later than ten (10) working days prior course commencement. This is a requirement to confirm your eligibility and to confirm your place in the course.  This is required to allow issuing of a Main Roads WA accreditation at the successful completion of the course.

Note – Exemption from holding a current BWTM accreditation may be offered for employees working in Main Roads, Local Governments or other approving bodies with at least 3 years experience in traffic management, road safety, road construction/maintenance or road design that will be endorsing TMP’s. Additionally, they must have previously held a BWTM accreditation.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the Construction Training Fund in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.

It is a requirement to hold a current Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation prior to re-accrediting your Worksite Traffic Management.

Yes, however, you will be required to submit a copy of one (1) Traffic Management Plan that has been implemented at an Event or Worksite that they had reviewed or approved, together with their review comments, for assessment. Using the Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and the MRWA Suitability Check Checklist for Traffic Management for Works on Roads to complete the TMP review.

The review must contain evidence of identifying multiple non-compliance and or improvement items for the TMP designer to consider. This review pathway must be approved by AusQ upon enrolment. For this course, there are various resources you are required to print and bring along during your classroom sessions. We provide specific details upon enrolment for you to prepare and get ready for training.

Yes, this is a course pre-entry requirement. Some of the required resources are a licensed resource therefore we are unable to supply copies due to copyright laws. If you require assistance with printing any of the free downloadable resources, our team can assist, however additional costs will be applicable to cover printing and collating costs. We require at least ten (10) working days’ notice to prepare these resources.

Yes, the evidence supplied will be assessed and feedback provided. If there is a need for this evidence to be amended a resubmission due date will be communicated by your Assessor.
