This one (1) day reaccreditation course provides participants with updated information on the latest changes and requirements to prepare detailed, compliant and safe Traffic Management Plans. This course covers conducting risk assessment, designing TMPs, amending traffic guidance schemes and undertaking quality review processes. The course is delivered face to face and training includes classroom activities, theory questionnaires and group activities. Assessments include theory questionnaires and practical assessments.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge of the latest regulatory and industry changes and requirements over the last 3 year period

Knowledge about changes to legislative resources such as Main Roads WA Code of Practice for Works on Road & Events, Austroads Guides etc

Verification of skills to amend a TMP in accordance with the objectives, statutory and regulatory standards

Verification of skills to select and modify a TMP and TGS based on risk assessment to ensure a safe and effective worksite operation

Verification of skills to determine signs and device selection including calculating the spacing between signs, cones and clearance to work personnel

Competencies

This is a non accredited course, therefore, no nationally recognised Statement of Attainments are included or issued.

AusQ Training is a Main Roads WA approved training provider, therefore, upon successful completion and meeting all the required Main Roads WA pre requisites, participants will also receive a digital Main Roads WA Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) accreditation (valid for 3 years). All certification records are issued in digital format and will be sent through via email.

1 day 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (please arrive 15 minutes prior course times)

Pre Entry Requirements

Participants are required to:

Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Provide photographic identification upon arrival at training course (eg driver’s licence, passport etc)

Have an adequate level of English literacy, numeracy and reading skills as training will involve reading work instructions, interpreting traffic guidance schemes, designing Traffic Management Plans, writing safety documentation, undertaking calculations and compliance audit reports

Have an adequate level of computer processing, internet and email skills as training will involve designing and developing Traffic Management Plans, emailing road authorities and communicating with all relevant stakeholders

Hold a Statement of Attainment in RIICWD503E Prepare work zone traffic management plan or equivalent

Hold a Statement of Attainment in RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process or equivalent

In order to meet Main Roads WA accreditation requirements, participants must:

Hold (or have held) an Australian Driver’s Licence

Hold evidence of being issued a valid Construction Induction Training Card also referred to as (Blue/White) Card

Hold or have held a Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation

Hold a current Main Roads WA Advanced Worksite Traffic Management (AWTM) accreditation (or be within the 3 month grace period of expiry)

Documentary evidence of experience must include at least three (3) TMPs that the applicant has prepared, endorsed or approved that have been implemented at a worksite. At least one (1) of these TMP’s must include multiple traffic guidance schemes and speed reductions (at least a two-stage speed reduction e.g. 60km/h and 40km/h or 80km/h and 60km/h subsequently). This will include:

  • A copy of a detailed Traffic Management Plan design completed in accordance with Main Roads template document or equivalent that had been implemented to an Event or Worksite, which they have developed.
  • Traffic Guidance Schemes
  • Copy of TMP Road Authority authorisation
  • Where applicable, any other relevant or supporting evidence e.g. site inspection, TMP review notes, email correspondence with project manager.

NOTE: All evidence shall have been within the last 12 months of seeking their Main Roads WA Traffic Management re-accreditation. Please note the above evidence may be verified by the RTO.

The above listed requirements and evidence must be supplied with your enrolment no later than ten (10) days prior course commencement. This is a requirement to confirm your eligibility and to confirm your place in the course. This is required to allow issuing of a Main Roads WA accreditation at the successful completion of the course.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the Construction Training Fund in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers. We are unable to offer bulk billing options on this course type, however, for eligible workers subsidies can be applied for directly to Construction Training Fund upon completion of training.

Yes, you can still complete this training.

It is a requirement to hold or have held a Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation or an Australian Qualification Frameworks compliant Statement of Attainment in ‘Implement Traffic Management Plan’. You will be required to supply evidence of your previous certification records upon enrolment. If you have undertaken this training previously with AusQ Training we will have that record already on file.

To enter this course, it is a requirement to provide documentary evidence of at least three (3) TMPs that the applicant has prepared, endorsed or approved that have been implemented at a worksite.

The applicant must submit the above evidence of experience prior to sitting the re-accreditation course. If evidence cannot be provided, the applicant will be required to undertake the full course (as per Main Roads WA requirements).

Yes, at least one (1) of these TMP’s must include multiple traffic guidance schemes and speed reductions (at least a two-stage speed reduction e.g. 60km/h and 40km/h or 80km/h and 60km/h subsequently). This TMP will be assessed and feedback provided. If there is a need for this TMP to be amended a resubmission due date will be communicated by your Assessor.

Yes, however, you will be required to submit a copy of two (2) detailed Traffic Management Plans that have been implemented at an Event or Worksite that they had reviewed or approved, together with their review comments, for assessment. The plans must include multiple traffic guidance schemes and speed reductions. Using the detailed Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and the MRWA Suitability Check Checklist for Traffic Management for Works on Roads to complete two (2) TMP reviews.

Each review must contain evidence of identifying multiple non-compliance and or improvement items for the TMP designer to consider. This review pathway must be approved by AusQ upon enrolment. Please contact our Customer Support team to discuss this alternative pathway and or recognised prior learning (RPL).

For this course, there are various resources you are required to print and bring along during your classroom sessions. We provide specific details upon enrolment for you to prepare and get ready for training.

Yes, this is a course pre-entry requirement. Some of the required resources are a licensed resource therefore we are unable to supply copies due to copyright laws. If you require assistance with printing any of the free downloadable resources, our team can assist, however additional costs will be applicable to cover printing and collating costs. We require at least ten (10) working days’ notice to prepare these resources.

Your evidence is assessed for competency and if there are gaps, we may require you to resubmit in the effort to demonstrate your competencies. This is necessary for achieving a Satisfactory outcome of the course.
