Western Australia’s Work Health and Safety Act 2020

A date has been set for the introduction of the new Western Australian WHS Laws. In March 2022, the McGowan Government announced WA’s new Work, Health and Safety (WHS) laws will commence on Thursday 31st March 2022.

This is an Australian first, bringing together most Western Australian workplaces under one Act. The formal title of the Act is the Work Health and Safety Act 2020. It provides a framework to protect the health, safety and welfare of workers in WA workplaces, and of other people who might be affected by the work.

What does this mean for you?

Ensure your business is across the new changes and has an implementation and preparation process in place for the new regulations. To cater for Western Australia’s unique working conditions, three sets of regulations have been developed covering;

  • General Workplaces
  • Mining
  • Petroleum
